The City of Bonn relaunched its digital issue reporting platform – mobile-first, AI-powered and based on the open-source platform Mark-a-Spot.

The City of Bonn has relaunched its digital issue reporting platform anliegen.bonn.de. In September 2025, citizens gained an easier way to report problems in public spaces – mobile-first and AI-powered.

AI-powered photo recognition

Citizens simply upload a picture; the system automatically suggests the right category. This saves time, improves data quality, and makes reporting effortless.

Mobile-first, citizen-friendly

  • intuitive design for smartphones
  • optimized display on all devices
  • works even with weak network coverage

Citizens can track report status, manage their submissions, and follow updates transparently – strengthening trust between citizens and local government.

Open Source foundation

Built on the latest Mark-a-Spot (Drupal, Open311), fully GDPR-compliant and already used by multiple German cities.

With this relaunch, Bonn shows how modern digital citizen services should work: simple, mobile, transparent – powered by smart technology.
